Huangshan is famous for "four wonders": strangely shaped pines (the Welcome Pine is the icon), fantastic rocks (Monkey Gazing at the Sea, the Flying Stone), seas of clouds and hot springs — plus winter snow, making five.

Getting up: the Yungu cable car (back mountain, easy) or the Yuping cable car (front mountain, near the Welcome Pine). Hiking up takes 3-5 hours — for the fit and ambitious.

Core route: up the front (Yuping pavilion and the Welcome Pine) → Guangming Ding (best sunrise viewpoint) → down the back (Shixin Peak, Monkey Gazing at the Sea). Staying overnight on the mountain for sunrise requires booking months ahead.

Cloud-sea timing: early morning after rain clears — odds peak. Snowy Huangshan in winter is a photographer's paradise.

Practical: ¥190 entrance (peak), cable cars ¥80-90 one-way. Temperatures run 8-10°C cooler than below — bring layers in every season.
